Nespresso Orange Aluminum Caran d'Ache Nespresso Orange PLUS 3 Wood Pencils

Caran d'Ache has been collaborating with Nespresso for several years to release an annual special edition collection. Previous releases included the 849 ballpoint pen, such as last year's "Arpeggio". All these Caran d'Ache x Nespresso products are created using recycled aluminum from Nespresso capsules as part of Nespresso's capsule recycling initiative. This year, the collaboration takes a different direction by expanding the Nespresso line to include a special edition Fix Pencil and a Swiss Wood pencil set. The graphite in these pencils contains 25% recycled Nespresso coffee grounds.

Speaking of the graphite, it doesn't differ much from Caran d'Ache's standard graphite core found in the HB Fix Pencil lead and the Swiss Wood pencil. The new graphite will be available only with the new Fix Pencil, as Caran d'Ache currently does not sell refills. The sustainability aspect of the coffee-grounds graphite may appeal to some, but the writing experience remains largely unchanged.

Visually, the orange Fix Pencil is stunning, featuring a dark matte copper/orange color that is somewhat uncommon. The finish on the Nespresso editions also adds to the grip of the pencil. Caran d'Ache has done an excellent job with this particular Fix Pencil, and it would be great if they continue to offer it in the future.

The Swiss Wood Pencils in this collection feature recycled coffee grounds in their graphite, along with special inscriptions and metallic caps. The metallic caps are not actual metal but rather a painted or coated material, so they do not affect the pencil's balance.
