Designed by James Irvine • Provenance from Adrian Olabuenaga, Founder of ACME Studio
This one-of-a-kind “Stripy Prototype” Rollerball Pen is more than just a writing instrument; it’s a piece of ACME Studio history and a journey into the nuances of design.
I acquired this pen directly from Adrian Olabuenaga, the founder and creative force behind ACME Studio. Adrian knew I had an eye for symmetry and balance in design, and he recommended this pen as a way to expand my appreciation. While it does have a beautiful symmetry, it also features subtle irregularities and variations that give it a unique, almost hypnotic quality.
When I held and studied the pen, it had a calming effect, helping me relax and see things from a new perspective. It taught me that beauty isn’t just about perfect repetition—it’s also about those little deviations that make a design truly special.
